“Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17: 30-31).
Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, July 7.
To ‘repent’ simply means to turn away from wrong behavior and pursue right behavior. God does not ask us if we want to repent; He commands it. Why? Because He knows that sin will ultimately destroy us if we don’t repent of it. It’s like a doctor who looks at a cancerous x-ray and knows that the patient needs chemotherapy or they will surely die.
Our loving God commands that we repent or sin will kill us, our families, our nation, and our world.
So let’s pray.
Let’s pray for ourselves.
Dear Lord,
Often, we have repeatedly failed, yet You keep extending Your forgiveness and grace. Today we want to turn from our sin and follow Your way completely. Please give us the strength we need to truly repent.
Let’s pray for our city and nation.
Dear Lord,
As we celebrate our nation’s freedoms, we are reminded that freedom is not free. Thank You for the many who have given their lives so we can enjoy our religious liberties. Today we humble ourselves for our nation as we fast and pray. Forgive us of our sins against You and bring a national awareness of our own hopelessness without You.
Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel
Dear Lord,
Today we declare that the earth and the fullness thereof belongs to You. We pull down the lies and strongholds of the enemy, and we loose healing, deliverance, and forgiveness to flow into all areas of our world. We especially lift up places where the people have never heard about the Man whom You ordained and raised Him from the dead. Let Your light shine freely without hindrance in these places we pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.
