“By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 11:11).

Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, June 23.

Our words are potent.

Today I want to thank you, our prayer and fasting partners, for being willing to stand in the gap in prayer for our city and our nation. You may be the minority, but you do intercession on behalf of the majority. You are making a huge difference, because God is listening to you. Not even one second of your time in prayer is wasted when it is offered in humility and faith before God. I am proud of you, but more importantly, so is God. Keep up the good work!

I hope these words encourage you to keep praying in faith. Our words in prayer for our cities make a difference before God. He is so pleased to hear His children turn to Him first, rather than thinking that political and financial decisions will rule the day.

So, let’s use our words to bless our city…

Let’s pray for ourselves.

Dear Lord,

It’s only by Your grace we can approach You, the God of the universe. Help us to become agents of blessing to our city. Let us live Your love out loud so our godly influence can be felt outside the church walls. Give us the courage and boldness to make a difference.

Let’s pray for our city and country.

Dear Lord,

Today we bless our city through our words and actions. We intercede for our government leaders. Let the Spirit of God give them wisdom and a holy desire to serve the people in love, integrity and faithfulness. Let the name of Jesus be lifted high in our city for Your glory.

Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel.

Dear Lord,

We pray today for the persecuted church. You said in Your word we are to remember them as if we were bound with them. We bind the lies of the enemy that try to demoralize and dissuade them. We release a wonderful move of Your presence in their lives today so they again know You are with them even in their suffering. Let them know they are joining the ranks of those throughout time who have entered into Your sufferings, and have a crown awaiting them someday. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
