“Remember the prisoners as if chained with them–those who are mistreated– since you yourselves are in the body also” (Hebrews 13:3)

Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, June 30.

If sharing your faith publicly were to become illegal in the United States, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

Have you ever been threatened with jail time because of your faith? It’s rampant in other parts of the world. You dare not speak too openly about your faith for fear of your own neighbors turning you in. Many are serving time today because of their simple public declaration that “Jesus is Lord.”

Today, let’s pray for those who are imprisoned because of their compassion for others and their commitment to the great commission

Let’s pray for ourselves.

Dear Lord,

First, we pray for ourselves. Forgive us for the times we are weak-kneed and timid about sharing the gospel. Quite often we have ignored You by ignoring Your plan to reach the lost through us. Help us to take advantage of the freedoms we now enjoy in America before they are gone.

Let’s pray for our city and country.

Dear Lord,

Forgive the citizens of our city for forgetting that You are the one who is causing our heart to beat, our hair to grow, our food to digest, and our brain waves to function properly. We have thought we could be independent from You. Help our city to hear Your voice again.

Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for those who share their faith boldly in restricted countries. Encourage them, we pray, as they serve out cruel sentences for simply sharing the gospel. Protect and provide for their families and cause Your gloriously grace to overwhelm their difficulties. Help us be bolder and more compassionate in an unrestricted country where we can freely share our faith without fear of being imprisoned. In Jesus name, amen.
